    Yes! The medals usually came in glassine packets. The packets become very brittle with age so they need to be treated with TLC.

    Here is a 12-Year Long Service Medal by Moriz Hausch with its packet:

                Thanks, James. The medal by Heinrich Kissing (shown in post #19) has never been unwrapped by me. The last person that touched it was the factory worker that wrapped it, eighty years ago.
