    Memel 30mm ribbon - Good

    Hi,

    Recently bought this 30mm Memel ribbon lenght. Sold as original, doesnt glow or anything.The edges' loops are there but not nearly as pronouced as on some 25 mm ribbon bar mounted specimens I have...

    Is this a known/accepted TR period variation or is it a post war replacement type?

      Thanks for the ribbon picts, they look to have the same edges as mine. Sorry to be so dense but "Yes, me too..." stands for "Yes I have the same type of ribbon and its original/good" or " Yes I have the same type ribbon and the same concern as you" ?

        Yes, it gives me reason for concern. It certainly doesn't match the period ribbon that came on my Memel.




        The replacement ribbon was reasonably priced but it still makes me wonder.

          It also doesnt match with the ribbon I got with my 2 Memels which looks like yours. If your new ribbon also comes from the recent "hoard" sold on eStand which included a subtantial roll of this ribbon (and other types) they all have the same edges (based on the 3 different types I bought). I agree the price was very reasonable and hardly worth the trouble of making a big scene even if we cant confirm/validate it as original but still, a lot of guys bought lenghts of this stuff.

          Hopefully someone that really knows this medal (like Bytowm or Antonio) will chime in but, in the meantime I'll check my picture archives & old threads to see if there are any precedents of this "funky edged" ribbon showing up on credible medal bars & let you know...
