Opinion needed on Panzer Badge - Bronze?

    Hey guys...

sooooooo...this is my first Panzer badge. It came to me in a grouping from a 4th Panzer Division Veteran.

From what I understood...these only came in silver and Bronze...am I correct?

I ask because this one seems gold in color...

    Thoughts?

This is a nice early hollow Adolf Scholtz bronze PAB.
Likely came from someone other than a Panzer crewman as they would have been awarded a silver.
Would have been better posted here.

      Thanks Ralf...

Yes, the photo album that came with it shows mainly Sd.Kfz 221 and Sd.Kfz. 222...so I suspect he was a crewman of one of those... ?

A beautiful example albeit missing the catch. This is quite common considering the crimped in catch as well as hinge. It is a difficult badge to come by regardless. Nice pick up.

An original as the others have said, but with broken catch and also postwar painted gold for some reason.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

It looks like an original badge spray painted gold at some point. It's also possible that it was originally a silver PAB, but most likely it was bronze and somebody painted it to try to match it to whatever the remaining original finish was. You can do a forum search on methods to remove postwar paint, but the results are sometimes not so good, so if you're happy with it as is, then leave it alone.
