I would to share to you this SS 4 years medal example to understand if it’s really a good original one or not.

To me it looks like a 2nd type medal but I’d be sure asking for your time if there are red flags.

The coarse stippling is the major red flag on this one...the stippling is very similar to that found on the postwar Souval 'Crown of Thorns' 8 year and both the 4 and 8 years can still be found on many dealers sites being sold as original. Also, beware of "Ground Dug" examples of this type accompanied by ridiculous stories of last ditch Waffen SS battles.
