    Not liking what I see.

    Hi Chris,

Sorry, but I don't like the look of this one. IMO it is a postwar put-together using a mixture of some original and some reproduction parts. The medals all appear to be okay, but I do not like the look of most of the ribbons. The colors appear way too vibrant and there is not even the subtlest hint of aging. I definitely do not like the ribbon for the 1939 KVK2X. Black horizontal wefts at the ribbon edges are not at all proper for a KVK ribbon. (They should be white.) And speaking of white, I do not like the use of white thread for the tie-downs on the KVK, Hindenburg Cross, and Westwall Medal. Those tie-downs stick out like a sore thumb whereas skilled assemblers made every attempt to make the tie-downs as inconspicuous as possible. On the reverse, I do not like the pin nor the catch. That type of hardware has been seen far too often on made up medal bars and it calls into question the authenticity of the backing plate itself. It would be interesting to peek under the backing cloth and get a better look at the hardware. But it seems that the assembler did not want us to do that so he sewed up the right and left sides in addition to the top and bottom edges of the backing cloth. I have to wonder: What was he trying to hide here?

    Best regards,
    Tom
