    Question on long ribbon bars

    Hello all,

Would either of these ribbon bars be correct for a Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery Officer?

I don't like the first one. Precedence and some devices seem to be incorrect.

The second ribbon is of Wilhelmskreuz (Wurttemberg). No idea, what should mean the garland device here?

An enameled wreath devices indicate the (Royal) Württemberg Military Merit Order. This gold wreath indicates the Gold Military Merit Medal, worn on the same ribbon. The Silver Medal was usually worn without a device, but sometimes had a silver silver wreath (against regs).
              Regards,
              Chris

Always interested in buying Ribbon Bars or anything Ribbon Bar related!!

You are both right (Ron & Chris). The ribbon is not of Wilhelmskreuz, but of Military Merit Medal in Gold. The narrow black stripes belonging to neigbouring decorations have fooled me

The third ribbon bar shown in this thread (post #4) was previously discussed here:

                      Hello again,

I am trying to find a ribbon bar that would be appropriate for this tunic.

                        Hello again,

I have no clue what the loops above the ribbon bar area are for, perhaps a custom made medal bar? Has anyone ever seen a medal bar that utilized vertical metal loops that would require the bar to slide down into jacket loops like this? Were there any Imperial installations that had a tradition like this?

Bill - I have seen all sorts of backing attachment methods for ribbon and medal bars, including vertical prongs. But never this many; I can't surmise what those are for, other tha a very specialized medal bar attachment with a virtually unique backing system.

That said, you do have loops there underneath for what is the appropriate ribbon bar position anyway.

                          J-
