The ribbon is original, the front looks fantastic but the reverse has pits which would give me cause for concern.

Looks good to me, but I cannot put your minds to rest though.

The Medaille is a good Gablonzer design IMO, but I cannot explain the surface on the reverse side.
Could be poor material, poor stamping, maybe it was stored poorly/or had zinc pest and cleaned, leaving the raw surface. No idea, but IMO a good one.

Thanks Sveimhugi, that makes me confident it is an original. The pits won't be a problem since I'll be displaying it in a riker mount with the beautiful front of this example facing out.
