    Real SS Runes Ribbon Bar!

OK, not just your usual "ribbon bar thread". We all know I'm passionate about the subject, as are many of you. If you've read Rick Research's article, you know how absurdly rare it is to find a ribbon bar with real runes for the 12 Year Long Service Medal. I've had the rare mini for the 4 & 8, but have only seen pictures of the runes. Until today! I'll let the "Evil Twin" expand the topic. I believe with this bar, we are still talking about under a dozen known in collections of undisputable authenticity. Enjoy!

    Ok Rick,

What was that going price - $5 for each ribbon and $7 for each device? Tell you what, I give you $50 for that baby!

Nice - I have only had the 4 year mini...

      Great bar stogieman!
But what has me very upset is this; When I was collecting in the early 1980's as a child, I has a 7 space ribbon bar with EXACTLY the same device! And I do mean exactly the same.

It was so long ago, but I believe it had these for ribbons; '39 EK2, War Merit w/swords, Russian Front, blue with SS device like yours, NSDAP brown, NSDAP blue, and a white, red, and green ribbon (Africa or Memel?).

It was backed with Heer green wool and had a brass pin.

You really have me wondering now!!!

I got to fondle Evil Ricky's ribbon bar earlier today. This makes a new type as well, because it is that grayish zinky later war metal sometimes found with wartime mounted ribbon bar Wehrmacht long service eagles too-- I do NOT mean the fake melted-thermometer white/silver castings, but some sort of GRAY alloy, plated, almost like war badges material.

It is indeed an original, as the details and my personal pawing confirm. I'd revise that "known" to half the above... and all but one of those are participants in this website.

Congratulations Stogieman, ...Another nice all TR ribbon bar...Lovely condition too.
Do I see some of the original silver coating still present on the runes?
BTW, there is a fake SS device on a ribbon bar being offered on Jamie Cross' site.

That bar can be a cornerstone in any collection. Magnificent find!

This bar and device now become one of the Magnificent Seven.

Very nice, but I think it is just a matter of (a very long time) until Chris and I have the same in our collections.

And then the will commence anew.

There are 500% scans at low resolution of both my own original and the usual fakes in the Devices Section of my ribbon bar article on the other half of this website, and I scanned this one too, but I have asked my Evil Twin (and anyone else fortunate enough in future to find a REAL one, please. I can tell from a scan just as size/quality posted above. ) NOT to post big sharp scans of the DETAILS of a Good Runes---

there are approximately 453,286 FAKES for every real one out there, and no sense at THOSE odds of finding a REAL one of simply telling the fakers how to make better fakes, na? The statistical odds of finding a REAL one are about the same as being hit by lightning or winning the lottery, despite the handfuls available at every show or constantly on eBay.
