    Winterschlacht im Osten / Einzelspange

    Hello

I was looking at this Einzelspange.
The Medaille and ribbon are good IMO, but I am not entirely sure about the "filz" on the back and hardware.

Hope someone can help, Unfortunately the only images that I got.

    Thank you!

I also have seen this medal and was not only put off by the price but by the backing-most I have come across were in green or field grey.Having said that genuine enzelspange came in a variety of mounts and not all were backed with fabric. As you say the actual medal looks good.

        Thank you Sniper

Yes thats true, its not cheap. I am not sure about the fabrik or hardware either, its just not my field. I know these pics are bad, and prob to bad to be sure anyway, I was worth a shot though.

        Thank you for your replies!

Hi Sveimhugi, sorry I didnt see your thread before...

First I would like to thank you for your commendable effort on the Ostfront medaille data base and for sharing it with us: much appreciated!

Single mounts are tricky and if the components (medal, ribbon, backing plate) are period and cloth components dont glow (black light) its very difficult to know for sure when they were made. I collect single mounts when I can find them (now up to 43) and I cant see anything wrong with this one from your picts. Contrary to Sniper11 (who has encounted more green and field grey backings), so far, the majority of my einzelspange are mounted on red felt/flanel like yours which makes sens because unlike "long medal bars" which were custom ordered for a specific branch, these einzelspange were pre-made for retail and red was a neutral/generic colour but the backing on my ostfront looks pink!

          Regards

          JC

            Hi JC

            Thank you for your reply.
NP, I enjoy making the DB. I got allot of help when I started (and still do) only fair to give some back with out a financial purpose.

Yes I agree, always very hard if possible to tell when they were made. I thank you for your opinion, I got a few einzelspangen, with gray, green and red "filz". But never seen pink! hehe

            Cheers!
