yes, and I agree but the construction was just so different from the Ohio fake bars. I'm sure they will give me a refund but it is still disappointing.

this is a very well made fake and one of the better I've seen. Thank you to all for the help and confirmation.

So what you are saying is it's not your fault just the sellers, okay.

You're right, it isn't his fault I put faith in his experience and good reputation. So they say, evaluate the item and not the story, nor the seller.

Personally, when I sell an item, I make sure it is what it needs to be but I guess I'm not like the other guys!

People put too much trust in emedals a lot like some other well known dealers/sites.

Name any other sphere where YOU think its acceptable to be sold fake stuff! What if you went and got tyres for your car and they had a blow out because they were cheap Chinese knock offs, is that YOUR fault? People on here say stupid stuff everytime William says anything, and only because its personal and its never relevant to the issue...A lot of members on this site need to grow up. And no its not your fault youve been duped William, its been a deliberate act somewhere along the line to deceive, and the responsibility lies with the seller..end of story, everyone else, go back to the playground where you might learn decency and fairness

Obviously you just turn a blind eye to the many raging debates that have come up in regards to good ole Billy. Everyone can make their own informed opinion about him and your way late to the party. That all said, let's get back to the item because your dragging this off topic and wasting people's time.

As for the item, it's clearly a crap bar. Something to this effect would be easily traced to an individual and as already pointed out, the whole medal combo makes zero sense. I mean how many times has it been brought up that people need to do a bit of homework and always evaluate the item and not buy blindly off a sellers reputation? Like all major dealer sites, there are fakes. It's great that Barry offers a inspection period, just like every other dealer to make sure one has time to look over their purchase. Matt

Well, if you are stupid enough to trust others to do your homework you'll be one sorry sucker. Go ahead and continue down that road, you won't be around long. Learn the craft or get raked, your choice.

                Research research research

10 min on this page medals.pl told me that this was not a very possiable combination.

The most obvious for me was the rosett on the second ribbon, I know of no Impereal German ribbon with a rossett, thoug I could be wrong on that.

The second flag is the Crown with Swords on the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin ribbon that never happend as far as I know.

The real test is to see if emedals relist the item as real!

Barry Turk's most established areas of expertise are imperial era and Reichswehr era orders, medals and badges (with a strong emphasis on imperial orders.) As far as anything that does not fall into these categories... well honestly, it seems like he sometimes engages in a "hit or miss" approach. Regrettably, this includes ribbon bars and medal bars. On occasion, I have seen stuff on his website that ranges from mildly questionable all the way to screaming fake. He buys a lot of old collections in bulk and, as we all know, some of those old-timers let a few fakes slip through the cracks.

afrikasandman and 101combatvet, you are two of the reasons people like me choose not to post on this forum And this forum only ever gets off track with petty keyboard warriors such as yourselves making personal attacks (of whom Mr Kramer seems to be your favourite choice). To a certain forum moderator i had the best conversation with recently in the UK , who is incredibly knowledgeable and a nice bloke, this kind of crap on here is exactly what i was talking to you about. Back to the Bar, sorry Billy its no good, and thats all you really needed to hear

It's going to take a lot more than staring at an internet page full of colorful ribbons and misspelled German terms for 10 minutes to EVEN BEGIN to understand this complex field.

You don't have to look far to gain a solid insight into the subject of ribbon bars. A person who spent most of his adult life researching German ribbon bars and medal bars wrote extensively about this subject right here on WAF.

I have read many of the posts on WAF regarding questions about ribbon bars and frankly, some of the answers from the self-styled "Experts" on here are embarrassing or just plain idiotic. If you take the time to learn from the pros, you can actually begin to have an insight into this complex area of collecting.

Agreed. About precedence: i.e. why Oldenburg & Brunswick behind the long service decroations and EKF? Second red flag: too many devices, some completely w/o sense (named by bytherock, post # 22)

Keyboard warrior? How much combat time do you have?

And to set the record straight it wasn't a personal attack, it was a common sense approach that all collectors should practice.

PS. Beacuse the parts look original, it could be also an old presentation bar, made by a craftsman, to show his competence. In other words: an old advertising product. Please pay attention, that every deivice is different, we have here a few types of swords (different size and color), crowns etc. Such products had for sure existed (medal bars also), and sometimes are making confusion in collector's world
