    inqury some item.

    Hello,

i don't know which forum is the right one, i also searched the web and got nothing and were directed to this website.

i have found some item in my attic and i was wondering if someone can help me to find further detail's regarding this item.

i did gain a very small knowledge regarding it.

    1) d.r.p = means it's registered patent from the riech.
    2) alles fur deutchland = mean it was made by Germany.

with the picture's attacing here, can you tell me, is it real?, is it fake?, and beside...what the hell is it?

    thank you very much.

here is the link for the picture, i uploaded them to imgur: http://imgur.com/a/YyDEF

      Hello,

It looks to me like some sort of a wood and brass, monocular telescope/spyglass made by Leica.

The D.R.P. does stand for Deutsches Reichspatent (German Empire Patent).

Alles für Deutschland was a motto used by the SA and NSKK. It means "everything for Germany" rather than "made in Germany".

Leica, based in Wetzlar, and Carl Zeiss, based in Jena, were both German optics manufacturers. But I can't see why Carl Zeiss' name would be on a scope manufactured by Leica. IMO the inscription on the wooden sleeve has been added at some later date in attempt to enhance the value of the scope.

      Best regards,
      Tom

If it was period i don't think it would have been a technical military item, more of a curiosity or novelty. Perhaps for children?

Seen this one before a total fantacy item comming out of the former DDR for a year or so after the wall fell.

Seeing something with both Carl Zeiss and Leica on it would be the same as seeing a car branded as a Porche~Lamborgihini or a Rolls Royce~Cadilac

What you see here is a cheap sporsman's telescope manufactured in the DDR till the mid 1970s pimped up for sale to gullibal tourist.

My wife's uncle in Slovakia kept one of these in his hunting bag.

Being made out of wood meant it did not fog up as easly as a metal telecope.
