Mini's - Stickpins

Hi all,

I have a mini KVK 1st w/o swords. It was labelled as a 9mm.

I have seen many on dealers sites from 6mm all the way up to 22mm etc.

I assume that this is the dimension of the medal on the end of the stickpin? Obviously mine (at 9mm) is over an inch long from one end to the other. Just wondering

There were basically 3 types of miniatures: 9 mm, 16 mm and 25 mm (Halbminiatur). And the size is the size of the actual miniature medal. But this is only a general idea. Now, there are differences, especially with the EK and the KVK. The "9mm size" of an EK1 and EK2 is around 9 mm, but the RK is approx. 11 mm. The KvK 1st and 2nd class is again 9 mm and the RK is 11 mm.

Now the "16 mm size" EK1 and EK2 is 14 mm and the RK is 16 mm. Same with the KvK's. Go figure.

And the Halbminiaturen (which are rare and mostly badges) are around 28 mm.

Aye ... thanks Dietrich ... I never really knew the significance or if these "sizes" were standardized or just random for each award. It makes that clear
