    Unique West Wall

    Unique West Wall
    Greetings,
Here is the first ”German” medal I acquired. Odd hook and loop. I understand not often awarded in silver either. I will post it’s unusual story after your comments.
    Regards,

I've never heard of nor seen one in silver. I've seen a gold one at Tom Johnson's but as far as I know there were only 2 of those. Is that a casting seam on the side??
I'd like to hear the story behind this one.

To my knowledge these awards were produced only in brass and later in a bronzed coated zinc, have never come across any other variations. Curious to here the story.

I put my money on cast . Furthermore I believe the suspension looks strange. I'm always game for a good story though

                  The story...

                  Greetings,
Here is the story. In the late 60s when I was a teenager I attended a rather bohemian loft party in the NYC Theater district. Several of the guests were aspiring actors who wore borrowed costumes. When I admired the attire of one actor who was dressed as a soldier, he pulled this badge of his chest and gave it to me.
It is very light and I do believe cast.
                  Regards,
                  Chris

                          Wretched luck

                          Greetings,
Wretched luck. My first “German” medal turned out to be a reproduction. I bet that not many can share that distinction! It did engage my interest though. Somewhere around here I still have my 1971 copy of Nazi Regalia (Ballantine books, Jack Pia “Over 100 brilliant four color photographs for just $2.95”). I made a list of the 12 badges I wanted to own. Although I own 24, I didn’t meet that original goal until a few weeks ago with the purchase of a Pilot badge.
Well… my silver West Wall will still retain a position in my collection. Interesting 35 years ago theatrical companies were producing silver West Wall copies. What was the logic? Some stage director says, “Not every one can have an Iron Cross”. The Russians might disagree. I remember the text of a propaganda leaflet dropped on German troops “Every other German soldier has a Iron Cross. Every other Russian soldier has a mortar.”
Thank you for finding humor in this travesty.
                          Regards,
                          Chris

Hi Egret, very good . It was always going to be a copy but you can never rob a man of his story. All the best.
