    Afrika medal type 2.1

Well, after years of zooming in on the obverse of every medal that the reverse told me was either a type 1 or 2, I finally found one with the dot between the words. This is the first one that I've seen in real life. The other 2 were one in Antonio's book, and the one Matthias posted here a few years ago. I feel like my 4 year old does when I tell her we can go get ice cream!
    Thanks for looking,
    Steve

Also, it's the first one I've got with the safety pin still attached. I've got a few where you can see the rust stains, but this is the only one with it still there.

      Indeed a great find Steve!
That medal is a very nice one, with a lot of character and it is the most rare type to find. You got your ice cream!!

      My books:

      - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
      - THE SS TK RING
      - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
      - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
      - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

      and more!

            Really pleased for you Steve.

I just checked my Type 2 and that's got the dot too I never knew.

            Cheers, Ian.

Thanks guys It's interesting to see the die flaws already on the maker mark - the first L missing it's bottom and the second half of Milano.

Ian: Whaaaaattttt!!!! Some of us have been looking for years and you had one all this time and didn't know it!!! Congratulations on a great find, I look forward to seeing yours!

Mine (you may have to zoom in) half the A and the NO are missing from Milano.

Nice group Ian, even better now that we know it's a 2.1
Looks like your first L is missing the bottom part like mine, too. The first O's and the M's are malformed, too. I wonder are they all like this (Antonio? Matthias? Anyone else who's actually seen more than one!), maybe the strike was bad from the start and that's why they abandoned this die?
