Buying plain ribbon...is it worth it?

    Hey,
Lately i have seen heaps of original ribbon thread for sale. Most are being sold in lots of 15cm. the ribbon types include: eastern winter war, iron cross and others.
Is it worth buying these for your collection or is it just a waste of money???

    Hope to hear your opinions,
    Max

It is always worth having some extra ribbon, many years ago I picked up over 250 Mothers Crosses all unissued without ribbon, had a heck of a time finding ribbon, way before the internet days. Regards,
    Ed. Anderson,Jr.
The film "Idiocracy" was originally released as a comedy. Now it has been re-released as a documentary.

Sarcasm is just one of my many talents!

I would always pick it up if the price is right.

You always need ribbons when you can't find them

Agreed, handy if you happen to pick up a nice medal that is missing its ribbon and besides, some of these ribbons are getting as hard, if not harder to find than the medal that originally came with it (Mermellandes, Schlesischer Adler, Baltic Cross etc)

I was very lucky a few years ago to pick up an unissued Memellandes ribbon that I sorely needed to complete a medal that had only a soiled scrap of its original ribbon left. In cases of rarer ribbons it could be a good idea to grab them as they become available.

For EK and Ostmedaille ribbons I wouldn't get too excited, the supply isn't running out anytime soon.

A loose ribbon I found on Ebay of all places ..

As above, any UV- original ribbons that aren't EKII, KVKII or Ost Medal I try to hoover up.
