Ribbons & Medal Bar for Review

    Hello Meine Herren,

I would appreciate opinions either good or bad. I want to put these on the Estand, but only if the experts think OK. I suspect some are bad, but I'll let you be the judges.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

The ribbon bar at the top looks to me like an "Ohio fake". The other two ribbon bars appear to be okay.

I'm afraid the medal bar is a postwar assembly.

    Best regards,
    Tom

I agree. The Brunswick ribbon looks way too light. Backing material creeping over the top.
I'm sure there's more, but I'm just learning myself.

The first ribbon bar is a fake as is the medal bar. The other two are good original examples.

        Kind regards
        Pierce

Thanks for the replies. The 'bad' awards are in the trash can!

Well I would break up and resell myself as the medals all look ok.

If you do break it up it would be neat to see how it they where put together for future referance if you can share a few photos of the event.

The internal workings of the Ohio bar would be neat to see.

Excuse my dumb question. I am not a ribbon or medal bar collector. Are you saying all the ribbons and associated medals are OK, but the mounting to the bar and attachments and backings are what is 'Ohio made'?

                Ok a little clarification

'Ohio parts', 'Ohio fake' etc etc do a search you will see a good deal of them. The 2 second expliation is a large number of these flodded the US Market, somtimes with ridiculous but tempting combinations, some times with real ribbons, devices and mounts but as the creators stock was used up fake ribbions, devices and mountings. It seems his mount boards where the first to go as most have crudly made tin boards. Usually they where longer than 5 ribbons

This is a general term for these types of fakes. They don't really come from Ohio except they seem to have ogrinated with a mail order deailer working out of Ohio.

The medals on the bar are most likely real just the mounting and most likely ribbons are fake. This is done by someone to increase the value of said medals.

The most valuable medal there the ICII if it was from a common makers and without ogrinal ribbon would got for say 30$ the other say and average of 20$ so 130 loose. A 6 placer would sell for 400+

If you are lucky sometimes the faker makes a mistake and puts a real nice medal on a putogether and then he is the loser

                    Mark, you are still around!

As everyone said the top looks like an Ohio fake. They are usually seen on the bottom as the one in the pic is, usually they are way more exotic in awards NSDAP Long service with Afrika Medals etc. I've noticed the backing felt is usually fake also.

Yes, I'm still breathing! Slowing selling these days, not buying.

                      Appreciate your comments.
