      Ferrous means magnetic.

      So "non-ferrous" means "non-magnetic".

General Triendl's Brunswick Ernst August Cross 2nd Class

          Dear Rick,

This is my first time to ever post anything on a forum so I hope I am doing this right. I noticed in your posting about Generaloberst Otto Dessloch's medal bar, that you mentioned the Brunswick Ernst August Cross 2nd Class for generalleutnant Theodor W. Triendl. Do you know what happened to it? Perhaps Neal O'Connor published a picture of it in one of his books? I am most interested in anything related to the general as I have his WWI presentation stein. I acquired copies of his records and a photo of him in uniform from the bundesarchiv some years back and am always interested in learning more about him.

          Sincerely,
          Martin

Unfortunately Rick has left this forum due to some political weirdness, in all likelihood, never to return.

            Sorry,

very nice. I remember seeing this bar in person at the Lakeland show a few years ago. A great piece of history.

That was the one that I had originally found that led to the ID of the bar, but the link had vanished. Cool that you found that picture again.

(It's still downright creepy how much that guy looks like an old boss of mine. I showed those pictures to a coworker of mine, and it ended up taking a lot of work to convince him that it wasn't really him.)
