to which period does this cross belong, in your opinions?

Hi Val,

IMO, case and order are both of the 1939 type. Swords were not authorized for this order until 1939, so this would not be the 1937 type. And the 1943 version of this order was re-designated a fourth class, rather than the second class of the 1937 and 1939 types. So, IMO, this would be late 1939 to pre-1943.

I think Peter may be correct about the order in question. Both the pin and the catch look a bit odd and also the heads of the eagles. It looks very well made, but I suppose this could be a high-end reproduction. Could we see a better picture of the catch and also one of the rivet?

Wayne, like Tom says the pin is not correct and the cross itself appears to very thick. This is the 3rd questionable piece I've seen in the last year and they all have different features. Check Christian's auction, there's a DAO Star which I believe is totally wrong, probably also a new generation fake.
