    Help with Ost Medal please

Is this Ost original? The cross is a Latvian fake, thought the Ost might be as well...

    Robert:

    Your "Ost" is a reproduction.

        Hi Ron

On what can you determine that this OM is bad ?
I am not saying you are wrong, just want to learn a little more

        Regards!

Better pics would help, but if it is a fake it's a good one IMO. Stewy

Originals are more crispy. Details are not razor sharp on this one. It looks 'bulky' or whatever term to use in English...

I still think it's ok. The strike's too good for a fake. Robert, could you post some better pics please. Stewy

                Hi all!

I think that I can resurrect this topic.
I have purchased same type "Ost medaille" and some members of another forum also mean that this is fake.
The only explanation I've got was that this type of fake has line under swastika cross (see red mark on front). There was also posted pictures of 3 identical medals with same mark. TS medal has same "line".

I thought that this medal belongs to OM108 - https://www.ostmedaille-database.com/work/#/om108/ . In my opinion all criteria matches except this strange mark.
Metal burrs on helmet could be result of poor treatment after stamping ?

It would be great to hear meanings of experienced forum members, what do you think about this medal.

The ostfront on the medal bar isn't a 108. Personally I think people have gotten too comfortable with ostfronts same with westwalls. People seem too quick to call them original just because some details match. This isn't the 80's even cheap medals like the ostfront are copied very well.

Personally if a cheap medal like a ostfront shows any questionable signs I wouldn't touch it considering for the same price you can get another and they're not hard to find.
