      Hello,

It appears to be an original by Eduard Hahn of Oberstein, only extremely pitted on the reverse. I can't see any part of the "EH' marking, which would be directly below the hinge. I have to wonder if this badge was ground-recovered and then repainted? Or possibly an excessive amount of soldering paste caused deterioration to the reverse?

      Best regards,
      Tom

In addition to the large 'EH' marking below the hinge and the '126' marking above the catch, this badge also has a small, faint 'EH' marking on the helmet.

Looks like an original to me as well, and maybe just a dirty reverse die responsible for the pitting we are seeing. Finish looks OK to me, believable texture and wear to it.

              Tom, gorgeous example my friend.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                thx Tom(s)!

The owner was wounded in 1944 so maybe this is a late war EH version? The badge is presumably part of a grouping and not a dug up. I did not had it in my hands but only saw it on these pictures.
