      My procedure ..

Correct ribbons ... UV- and with the correct weft threads (if it glows it goes)

Correct precedence ... are the awards in the correct order (NOT an exact science but it helps rule out many fakes)

Correct construction ... it varies widely but again UV- on everything. Not too many scratches on the back on 'segment' bars.

Common sense ... a bar shouldn't have 2 EKII 1939 ribbons or similar.

The more exotic the combination of ribbons and devices the longer I study it and the less likely I am to buy it.

The above doesn't always work but you get a feel for what's right and not .... I still get fooled occasionally ... ask the guys here first before you buy if in doubt.

      Hope this helps, Ian.
