    DAK Medal - Type 4 or 5?

    Hello All,

Just found this one. Not quite sure how to tell the difference between a type 4 and 5. It is quite thick (type 4?) and weighs 16.3g

    Thanks for any comments.

It is a Souval attributed piece, so a "type 5" medal.

      My books:

      - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
      - THE SS TK RING
      - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
      - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
      - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

      and more!

I'd say I agree with Antonio, but since I learned everything I know from him, that's probably not necessary

          Thank you Antonio and Steve.

Antonio - I will get around to reading your book. Does the "Souval" attribution also imply that it could be a post-war manufactured piece?

          Thanks,

          Eric

IMO no, Souval had enough wartime leftovers and simply stamped some specimens with his "L/58" post war mark.
But few after the war he sold his Afrikamedaille die to Steinhauer & Luck that used it for the '57 version.
