    Unknown ribbon on ribbon bar?

Can anyone help with an ID of the ribbon at the front please. The bar looks period, couple of silly black paint touches to two ribbons, and im not sure ive seen a war merit badge on a bar before, all comments are welcome folks

Well that is an odd one.

The blacks paint line are most likely from a rubber ban that attached it to something perhaps a display board.

There should be no devices on the KVK and the ICII and the ICII should be in front of the KVK and not have that silly sword and crown.

The first ribbon is a head scratch er. I swear I have seen it before someplace.

So far it is screaming very bad put-together.

While it looks very impressive I have to agree that it looks like a put together bar. There are just too many oddities about it.

Yep, definately a put-together. However, the KVK device was banned 1941, so obviously they can be found on early ribbon bars. Swords=Hohenzollern Hausorden.

          cheers

It would be interesting to find out what that first ribbon is and see if it is relevant to the others. I have spent some time looking around on the net but no luck.

This ribbon bar is a fake for sure. The first ribbon is certainly not German.

                  Kind regards

Thanks Pierce. I hoped you would see this post as you know your stuff when it comes to ribbon bars.

Well 16 books and charts later and nothing on the first ribbon but if it was say a ICII then the bar could stand a very slim chance of begin at least a possible medal bar.

Seem the Prussian Golden Military Merit Cross used the same ribbon as the ICII and that would be its spot in a TR era bar.

                      Though the Goldenes Militärverdienstkreuz
Militärehrenzeichen was very rare less that 2000 awarded in WWI. From period photos I have seen the ICII seem to be placed in the button-hole most of the time I guess the use of the crown and swrod was one way to tell it apart from the ICII.

The swords can be found on a button mini of a MVC, but in conjunction with the crown it's a Hohenzollern Hausorden.

                        cheers
