The obverse looks textbook, but there are some really strange patterns to the texture on the reverse...possible respray.

Good original one, IMO no refinish or respray, simply a bad die stuck hit.
Finish on these medals were made in at least 2-3 different ways (quite common during the TR medal-badges production).
Differences are in the base metal, not in the surface.

Could well be Antonio...that was my first thought as well, but then I wondered how the lettering would have survived a bad strike so perfectly. Could it be possible that debris in the die would cause such an anomaly?Comment
