    Opinions about westwall

    Hi,

Can i have your opinions about this westwall medal, ribbon and bag please.
I can have this set for 30 €, so a good opportunity if it is a good set.

    Best regards.

Hi Sebastien, the medal and packet are fine but the ribbon is a fake I'm afraid.

These are original ribbons ... early on the left, later on the right. Note the edge weave ..

Mint original Poellath sets are out there for little money so personally I would wait for one of those.

    Cheers, Ian.

PS on reflection the colour is a bit odd ... too goldy so it may have been refinished ?

Original awards ... later (zinc) Poellath on the left, as yours should look and the early bronze type on the right.

      Hope this helps.

Thank you very much Ian for your help.

When i see your picture, my westwall seems not to be so detailed, not well finished.

But for the ribbon, my amateur's eyes don't see the problem.

So in doubt, i think i will wait a better opportunity for this medal.

        Thank you very much.
        BEst regards.

        Sebastien

Hiya, we are all learning. Look at the ends of the 'weft' threads (the lateral ones) and where they reach the end they loop outwards and return along the next row creating a D shape at the edge. On yours and modern repros they tend not to do that.

          Ian.
