    Heer ribbon bar

    Hello all,

Just wanting opinions on this ribbon bar, is it correct configuration: ek2, easter campaign, service than entry into Austria, Sudetenland and Italian service?

    Thanks for help!

    Hello,

Ribbons and mounting components certainly look original. As you say, the order of precedence is correct as well. The last ribbon is actually for the return of the Memel District and not Italian service.

The ribbon bar could very well be a legitimate assembly of the TR Period. But I am always a bit cautious when it comes to these slotted backplates, with the tabbed frontplates, because of the ease at which they can be put together. And I am especially cautious in this particular case because of the presence of all the annexation awards: Anschluß, Sudetenland, Bohemia/Moravia, and the Memeland. That is a very unusual thing, IMO.

    Best regards,
    Tom

Having all 4 occupation medals (counting the Prague bar) is a huge red flag, as Tom has said. I thought the only people who got all of them were guys like Goering who just were able to wear whatever they wanted? I'd like to know more about it! I actually saw a ribbon bar yesterday at a show, I got all excited when I saw the Memel ribbon. But then I saw it had the Sudetenland (no bar though) and Austria so I just dismissed it.

Is this the one on Weitze? I remember seeing a similar Spange there which looked good at first glance but the combination of these last three ribbons turned me off a bit without having a real reason or knowledge why.

          Hi Oscar,

I saw this on the recent update as well. I gave it only a cursory glance as I actively collect Luftwaffe bars, not Heer. But I remember thinking that it was a good one. It would be helpful to see the backing unobstructed.

Among the previous posters, I only know Tom personally. I highly respect his opinion and he is among the most knowledgable in this area. So I weigh his perspective heavily. I do feel that having all three flower awards did occur with more than just personalities we know. I understand what he and the other posters are saying, as the presence of all three is rare. But that alone would not preclude me from buying this bar as I'm not seeing any other red flags.

But I think it's important to collect in your own criteria at the end of the day. If owning this bar would not make you happy given the other opinions stated here, than I would not recommend buying it.

          Best regards,

          Jason

I'm glad to hear that the feeling is that there were some who were awarded all medals. I'd love to have one, I quite like the occupation medals, but since I don't have Toms experience with ribbon bars I just wouldn't trust myself to pick one up. What type of person would be a candidate for all? This guy looks army, I'd guess maybe some civilians?
