Memel display

I've got a couple of Memels, and would like to frame them up. I was thinking of adding some KM insignia, like a breast eagle or something. Any suggestions about what might be appropriate? I'll post this message over in the KM section, too.

Hard to say what would fit in there to your liking because its a matter of personal taste but, personally, I dont have enough sets that I consider complete enough to justify framing. However, wether its an individual piece I like to display by itself or small set I find what works best for me is to "play around" with it 'till I find a set-up I like before investing in frames, mats, backing cloth etc.

The way I do that is with 1:1 scale "head on" pictures of the pieces I want to frame together taken on the same colour background, crop them to size and then move them around (or add and delete stuff) as required to get an accurate preview of what the frame will look like finished. You can even add the frame and matting material to your design to get a idea of the finished product to make sure the frame, mat etc work together and dont overpower the piece (s) you are trying to diplay. I've attached a pict of a single piece layout with frame (J1 Pilot) and a group I am playing with (Deumer EKs & spanges) for which I still need to get a good EK 2 as the one shown is crappy (but good enough for the picture).

I'm sure there are other approaches but I find this works best for me: I hope this helps a bit

Hi J-C, thanks for your response. I like the idea of taking a picture and trying it with the frame first.
I'm not talking about anything too fancy - I just like to put things in my collection in relatively cheap frames so that I can look at them. I guess what I really meant was that I'd like to put my medals in with some insignia that could have been there too. Like a KM breast eagle or something. I just don't know much about insignia, and didn't want to end up with something that was only used at the end of the war, that kind of thing
