To me the medals themself where all the same, no difference in them despite them coming in different makers bags. Imo they are 100% the same from all the different makers.

Yes, but are extremely hard to find. In 25 years of collecting I've managed to pick up 3 marked WMM including one on a single parade mount which is very rare regardless of the MM.

My last one was early this year from Giel's website. I was lucky. The good news is they don't cost much more than a non marked one, considering they are a hundred, if not a thousand times rarer. That is likely to change I would think but even if its double the price it's still relatively cheap given that the going price for a non MM is round $50-$70 USD.

The hard part is trying to find one.

Interestting comment about single mount KvM being rare. I guess I was lucky then: here are my KvM single drapery mounts on red and orange ribbons

Hi JC,

You are indeed a lucky man. To find a KVK2 on a single mount is difficult enough. I've been looking for a long time and they get snapped up very quickly, but a WMM single mount is almost impossible to find. In fact, rare on any parade medal bar. Reason being that they were mainly awarded to factory workers and the like so there was really no need to mount them for parade purposes. That's my understanding and which makes sense as well. I think I got that info out of Tom Yanacek's book. I'm sure he'll jump in and clarify that.

You have two very nice and rare WMM parade mounts. Congrats. Do you have any that are MM?

PS. Here is a great thread from 2008 about WMM parade mounts. In it I disagreed with them being called "rare", until I tried to find one and that wasn't until last year so I have no problems calling them rare now.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the additional info and the link Andrew. I only heard they werent so common recently here on WAF but, personally I always thought that even though the medals were being handed out to recipients with the packets or on loose ribbon when presented medal retail outlets and tailors had display cases full of pre-mounted single awards or basic/common sets for (entitled) people to buy. Because I've found a number of them that didnt seem to have seen much "action" I just figured they were tailors'/medal shops left over inventory
