    Ribbon bar original?

    Hello gentlemen,

I was going through some older bits and pieces of my collection and I came across this ribbon bar. It looks well worn and all aoriginal to me. Though in the back of my head I remembered something that the order in which these are placed is not as should be. As far as I know the Ostfront ribbon should come second. And furthermore, shouldn't the long service ribbon have an eagle (or any other device) attached?
I have not much knowledge of ribbon bars so I hope to find out if I did well so many years ago when buying this one?

Thanks a lot for clearing this matter up for me !!

You are right the order should have the Eastern front medal before the Long service but the lack of device may mean this is a civil 25 year award a police 8 year or a RAD 4 year.

As this one had the west wall ribbon my money is on the RAD 4 year.

I would go with a good period ribbon bar.

Thanks a lot! Didn't think of the RAD possibility here with this service ribbon but it does make sense indeed combined with the Westwall.

And about the wrong order of ribbons....this happened more often? Or was this particular individual perhaps not so strict with the rules and regulations?

Looks ok to me. Authentic, out-of-order bars are not unusual.

the blue one could also be a prussian long service medal, those have a blue ribbon but no eagle or swords on the ribbon bar

                  Hi Robin,

If that were the case, though, we would expect to see some other Imperial decorations or at least a Hindenburg Cross.

                  Best regards,
                  Tom

I tend to go for the 4 year RAD option, makes the most sense indeed combined with the Westwall.

Thanks a lot for everybody's help and thoughts!
