luftschutz 1ª Klass. Original or fake?

Hi, guys, I've seen this coveted piece at a price of about 625e and the truth is that I like, but as I am not connoisseur of this rare cross I ask your opinion on the subject. I appreciate advanced for your help.
    gracias

What I wonder is why the ring has a color and cross another?

    Regards

These are always tricky as there are so few good examples about.

What I do not like is the edge under the 19 on on the obverse.

Any way to get a closer look at the spot and an edge on look??

Hi the colour is different in the medal and the hinge and ring for one reason... The medal was Made in zinc and lost his Golden finish... The ring and the hinge was Made in another material...

In my humble opinion, this is an original example of last years, made of zinc.

As the companion Oberst Rudel, it is common to see these changes in tone in the medals of last years as the rings and fasteners are made of another material such as silver, bundmetall, bronze, etc. and the medal is made of zinc .. ..the reaches zinc gilding bath absorb, in this case, over time.

I put a comparison with one that retains the perfect golden brown and the zinc example you show us:

Anyway, I'm not an expert in this type of medals and will have to wait to see what the experts say ... it's just my opinion

You better be looking for a "mold seam" on that piece.

Years back these were plentiful in our area & were selling
for roughly $35.00 because they were either 'reproductions'
or not wanted because they weren't 'combat related'.

One particular character usually had these on his tables
& every time he offered one to someone they would bring
it over to my tables & ask me if it was an original or not.

The "mold seam" will be 'dead center' around the outside
of the Cross as-well-as, inside the 'pie slice-shape cutouts'.
If there aren't "seams" running around the outer edges of the
Cross don't take that as an 'OKAY' sign. Inspect the inner
edges of those cutouts & look for any "seam lines".

After awhile the characters who were passing these things
off started to 'sand down' the outer edges to being 'smooth'
to fool the prospective buyer but, they didn't take the time to
do the job right & left the "mold seams" on the inner cutout
areas & a quick inspection in this area worked every time &
              pointed out the "reproduction" .

It's a typical S&L example of the 1st class Luftschutz. For me also one of the accepted original pieces.
                Kind regards,
                Giel

We don't know who were the makers of the LS 1 class medals, and we cannot identify these medals if they are not marked.
3 makers were involved but only 1 die was used.

Heve a look here, from post 19 onwards:

Hi, guys, It is a medal very given to the controversy because I understand only 168 manufactured or a similar figure, in the hypothetical case that is original, this piece should be worth thousands of dollars. And replicas abound, aged replicas, in a way that is difficult to take a decision and discern between one true and one false.

                      Many regards.

That's no true.... Many of them was manufacture by the makers, we not only must count the ones granted, many more was made in the shops, intendences, etc.

This one was a fine original, a scarce medal, just see the opinions of the another Reputate collectors, please before make this affirmation think about it.

If you have doubts please first document yourself of the details and makers, because you make doubts to the good collectors.

And NOT again, an original one is priced about 650-800 euros aprox NOT thousands.
