How heavy is it? Does it "clink" if you drop it slightly on the floor?

Old school, eh? I showed George Petersen my gold ccc and the first thing he did was bounce it off a countertop. I about died! I have visions of it snapping in half or the backing plate falling out. He looked at it, bounced it, tried to bend it and said it was a good one. Luckily no damage done.

metalic tinkling is good. Dull "thud" is bad.
                Yup. Old School.

Thank McCulloh! But the another pieces on this medal in the web is silvered aluminium, and haven't patina. They have blunt light. This medal was different version? (early, late war....etc.)

                    Hello all,

A question regarding this medal. I also have a medal just like this for many years but had been told it was bogus. If I'm not mistaken this is a female version for long service in the labor corps right? I was under the impression all these years that this piece was fake because the swastica should be enamelled(?) or painted black, every picture I've seen of this item the swastica is black. Can anybody clear this up for me? The piece I have is also heavy. Thanks all

This is the womens 12 Year LS medal. I don't believe it's actually enamel, but I have seen them w/black on them.

This example looks to have been polished at one time, as it no longer has it's "frosted" appearance, so the black may have been rubbed off.
                      Regards,
                      Chris

Again, a true weight will tell all, but it deserves caution, given it's rarity. however, it looks ok to me -so far. I thought these were made in zinc and buntmetal.

Can someone please explain this to me what is "clink" (the sound it gives when it hits the floor?) and what makes it say "clink"?

                          Cheers Thomas
