Hi Guys,
is the maker mark on this one a misplaced 6 ? should it be 93 ?

Why would it be a 'RICHARD SIMM & SÖHNE - "93" ?

It actually IS a 'FRANZ KLAMT & SÖHNE - "63"


"93" RS&S may look similar but, it can be defined by studying
the wording on the back - "WINTERSCHLACHT" which has a
"shorter" T in the word than the "FK&S" issue.


"63" FK&S is similar on the front but, can be spotted quickly as
the wording on the back - "WINTERSCHLACHT" is 'uniform' in
it's placing & 'all' the letters are of the same height....The letter
"S" is 'closer' to the letter "R".


Get yourself Sascha Weber's book "Die Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten
1941/42 (Ostmedaille)" - My opinion, it's an excellent reference book devoted
to this award.
