Great bar! That cross really jumps out at you.

I noticed too that it is the rare ostrich variant. The head of the bird is buried in the ribbon...

The soldier may have choose not to mount his Hindy cross! some didnt value it very highly a bit like the war merit medal in the second war.

                Nice bar mate btw

That would be out of place on this bar.

This chap was most likely a long service carrier police officer and never served at the front as he would of been a little too old.

note the VfK. and Kaiser Wilhelm-Erinnerungsmedaille, tells the whole story

There was a cross without swords - for noncombatants.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful thoughts and input. I had fun going over this one using Tom's book. The last thing that I wasn't sure about was the ribbon for the Police loyal long service award for 25yrs but the book put me at ease with the description that it's a 50mm wide ribbon split up the middle.

                            Viel Spaß,

                            Jef

Quite true but that was usually awarded to military auxiliary personnel like 'Sanitary-Men' (medics), 'Doctors' , Nurses, Admin types etc. not a policeman per say.
