Been on here for years and have collected much in my time but surprised I never had a Next of Kind Honour Cross in my collection so grabbed the rather underrated medal. What do you think?

I guess they are more suited to the Imperial Forum though ?

My First German medal was one of these honor crosses, with swords, rusty and without ribbon. It's now more than 30 years ago when I was a kid. It cost me most of my pocket mony (7 euros) but I never forget the feeling of total fascination, stared at it for hours and felt that it was the gem of gems. It takes a "bit" more today to get me that excited;-)
Still think it's a beautiful cross, especially the black one.

Nice find. When I was collecting these, the ribbon was the hardest one to find. The first time I bought one, the dealer thought someone painted the cross since he said "these are supposed to be bronze". That was back in the late 1970's. It's amazing how much information is available on all these collectibles now. You guys can tell who made an unmarked Iron Cross by the color of the lint embedded in the crevices!!!Comment

Nice Next of kin Honor Cross by G & S; I have one by the same maker as a single drapery mount. If memory serves me right, the Honor was introduced in 1934 (making it a TR period award IMO) to replace a whole bunch of unofficial awards that had been introduced by various organizations to compensate the long overdue official state recognition for WW I service. A common affordable medal but well designed and significative. It was also produced by most manufacturers for those who like to collect variations
