A cased ss long service medal , was told that it has been in a collection for 40 years. Can anyone give me an opinion please on medal and case.

The medal is considered to be postwar.

I can only agree with Antonio...there are many previous threads which outline my reasons for considering this a postwar example.
I wouldn't be 100% comfortable with the case either, mainly due to the texture of the leatherette covering & the slanted Runes.
