I really don't know. I took a gamble and bought it, since the price was very good and I had the possibility to pay using paypal. The seller was an antiquedealer with little specific knowledge regarding Third Reich medals.

The medal itself is not magnetic, I have tested. What does that make it?

Medal is made of what some people call Tombak.

As mentioned some prefer the iron type but it doesn't matter too me.

I like both types.

Now try and find an eagle for the ribbon.

Congrats on a nice original piece. As it has allready been said they come in magnetic and unmagnetic. The ribbon looks like a 25 mm piece, which is used for medal bars. As a stand alone, which this cross never would be, as it is worn together with the 18 years, a 32 mm ribbon would be correct.

May I ask what you purchased the cross for?

Found an eagle by coincidence about a week ago.

Does this look ok to you, Bytown? Everything ok with the eagle?

Looks ok too me.

Long Service medals with eagles can be a crap shoot.

Medal is magnetic and Eagle is non magnetic.
Medal is non magnetic and Eagle is magnetic.
Both Medal and Eagle are magnetic.
Both Medal and Eagle are non magnetic.

I guess it all boils down to what was tossed in the package at the time.
