Quite all the 12-25 accepted type have the same flaw on "T".
But if makers were at least 2-3 (considering they produced the 4-8 SS LS medals), where are the other 12-25 SS medals?
When you consider that the 12 & 25 years were only actually physically awarded from November of '38 (when all four designs were finalised) until January 1940,when bestowal [only the 1. & 2. Stufe] ceased until further notice...they probably were'nt exactly over produced, as I presume that production would also have been at least limited until further notice.
We know that they were still around in some context after 1940, as is evident by the below two 1941 dated photos of window displays and that they were still shown in the 1944 LDO pricelist. Is it possible, therefore, that other manufacturers were employed to produce these awards in an ,argueably, inferior quality for display purposes? The 2nd photo below clearly shows that the pictured 12 & 25 year SS Awards have circular suspension rings and a narrow ribbon with large Runes...this would be in keeping with the photos shown in the Doehle books. The images in the other photo aren't clear enough to be 100% positive, but it sure looks like they also have circular rings to me.
This still leaves us with the big question, as you say Antonio...where are all the others?
Anyway, hope we haven't hi-jacked your thread Ron...and again, you have a beautiful set there. I personally don't collect cases, but it's always a pleasure to see these awards pretty much how they would have been presented
