Original Medal Bar with the Widow's Cross?

Has anyone EVER seen an original medal or ribbon bar to a military/paramilitary member with a Widow's Cross on it? There have to be at least a very few cases where a single father or brother was next of kin from WW1 that continued service in one form or another into the TR era.

Those bars are amazing. Are there any books to show the number of Widow Crosses awarded?

That double HC is really something. He must have been a real old timer by the time 1933 came around. In his late 30s for WW1 then 50s-60s for WW2.

          Here is my sole example.

            Hi Paul,

Dr. Heinrich Doehle shows the award numbers in, Die Auszeichnungen des großdeutschen Reichs: Orden + Ehrenzeichen + Abzeichen.

By the time that applications for this award were no longer being accepted, the following number of awards had been rendered:

            6,202,883 for combatants
            1,120,449 for non-combatants
            345,132 for widows
            372,950 for parents

These numbers probably do not account for subsequent awards to those of German heritage in the Ostmark and Sudeten regions, once they became part of the Greater German Reich.

            Best regards,
            Tom

The Next of Kin may have been a brother ... so not that much age difference ?

Very cool bars. I really dig the double HKs.

                    Ian,

                    I hear you there.
