strange ribbon on this West Wall medal

Has anyone ever seen a ribbon like this, with the black thread on the sides?

Hi William, never seen black weft threads myself ... the ribbon itself though looks ok construction-wise. Is it UV- ?

passes all tests and I swear it came back from a Vet. lot I just got recently. I have no reason to doubt it's authenticity. Was there any other awards, Imperial as well, that used a similar ribbon?
