    5 place medal bar

    Hello,

I picked this medal bar up today. I don't collect medal bars but this one caught my eye and I had to have it. I thought I would see what some you guys thought of it. Thanks for looking.

    Best Regards,

    Gus

          Hi Gus,

I can see why that one caught your eye and you had to have it. It's a great looking medal bar. I like the subtle aging and the ribbons show excellent coloration. Thanks for showing it.

          Best regards,

An original medal bar for sure.

It is hard to find longer all Third Reich medal bars so congratulations on obtaining this one.

            Kind regards
            Pierce

I'm not questioning the authenticity (don't know enough), but does the pin come out at the fourth medal, rather than going the entire length? Was the EK2 added on?

                Gents,
I appreciate all the positive feedback. Can anyone comment on the position of the pin, as questioned above?

                Thanks,

                Gus

                  Lucky you!!

Very nice and a great combination. Like the Prague bar!

Should there be a LS award?

Regarding the pin- this may have been a 4-place medal bar that's been lengthened during the period. If you look at the ribbon firl of the KVK you might notice it's a bit different from the others.

                    Kind regards

Not necessarily! All this could have been (and often really was) earned from a man who became a soldier in e.g. 1937...

                      Kind regards, Peter

                        Peter,

That's why I asked, as the Anschluss Medal would place the bar at May 1938 and the Eastern Front Medal at 1941/'42.

Even if the member just joined and immediately qualified for the Anschluss Medal, it would be at least three, almost four years service to qualify for the EF Medal. To be awarded both an EK2 and KVK2 in such a short time would be exceptional I think, not saying it didn't happen.

Just a bit surprised we don't see at least a 4-yr medal here.

Very nice medal bar Gus!! All of the awards seem to have a consistent "seasoning". I like

This would look great on a Junior NCO's Waffenrock.

                            Hi Tim,

Awarding of Wehrmacht Long Service Decorations was discontinued in late 1940, so many never received the long service decorations that they rated. Awarding of these decorations was to resume once Endsieg was achieved.

Award documents confirm this. Ever wonder why you don't see award documents for Wehrmacht Long Service Decorations dated between 1941 and 1945?

                            Best regards,
                            Tom
