    Looking for LW Honor Goblet...

I'm new to this site, and I am very impressed with the quality of the posts. My uncle was a flyer in both wars, receiving Honor Goblets in 1918 and 1940. Fortunately the WW 1 example survived with document, but all I have for the 1940 example is a copy of the urkunde. I heard through the grapevine that the goblet, documents and soldbuch are presently in Germany, but I don't know who has them. According to my uncle, the goblet was stolen by US troops at the end of the war. I am very keen to reunite these items with the material that I have, and I realize that it is a very, very long shot to locate the missing items. Here are the particulars:

Hauptmann Dr. Albrecht Ochs, awarded October 11, 1940 as Staffelkapitaen 9. JG 3

Any help would be most welcome.

I do also hope you will reunite these two. My only prediction though is that they are buried in someone's long term collection and will never see the light of day again. But, you never know and I will look out for you. Check the dealer's stock lists aswell.

And of course, welcome to the forum

P.S I would love to see the WW1 grouping of your fathers if you are willing to share it Thanks.

      Vince,

Firstly welcome to the forum, glad to have you on board, secondly, I am not too hot on LW things, but sure this must be an uncommon thing to acheived an honour goblet in both WWI & II.

It would be interesting to hear the story behind these.

After my whaffle I am sorry but I cannot be of much help, as already mentioned it may be worth checking out the dealers sites, or even write to them saying that you are after this item? Long shot but it may be worth ago.

Best of luck in your search
      Regards

dont forget to also do an Internet search,if it has been sold before in the past it will show up on the search engines.
Good luck. If you heard on the grapevine then surely you have a lead ??

Thank you, gentlemen, for your input. I believe it must have been a rarity to receive the goblet in both wars, and to add to the rarity, the recipient also scored victories in both wars. I know that a certain well known German aviation historian has information as to the whereabouts of the sought items, but is not being cooperative, at least as of my last contact. I also know that the Bundesarchiv has several award docs which I know were stolen at the end of the war. I'm investigating the legality of this, as these items are rightfully property of the family, at least in my opinion. Cheers,

          Vince
