DRL sport badge for war wounded help and confirmation?

Hello all,

I have a newly purchased DRL Sports badge for wounded (I assume wounded).

The reason i have my doubts is i expected it to say FERD WAGNER rather than WERNSTEIN JENA when I researched it. also at £50 i think that it could be a modfied silver or bronze - ie painted?

other than these concerns i think it is still a good adition to my collection and if it is a wounded soldier variant I will be even happier!

Alex,

To me the gold finish does look strange but there is nothing wrong with the make. My badge is also marked Wernstein Jena and comes with full documentation.

Hi Stan,

Thanks for the feedback, I agree with you that the colouring is odd, the back also has a white/grey paint which some of it has become slightly raised which can be seen top left of the first picture.

Im tempted to say it is the wound variant but still cant be sure.

Otherwise im very happy with the quality of the badge itself.

The difference and coloring difference is mainly because the 1st example is zinc. The one right above Tombac.

many thanks, so i am comfortable in saying this is the wound badge variant in zinc which contributes to the discolouring of the oak leaves - a result for me!
