Hi guys,
I wanted to show what I believe is a good comparison of a fake NSDAP 10 Year ribbon with an original. The first thing that struck me in hand was the color difference of the brown threads on the fake, they seem to be almost black with blue/tan and purple mixture. Especially on the tiny loops on the end of each row, the thread is very dark blue in color and it is different than the rest of the ribbon. In hand the color difference of the edge loops is pretty noticeable, almost translucent color (hard to pick up with the scanner).
The 2nd major difference is the different thread count of the white stripes; the fake ribbon has 8 threads whereas the original has only 7. Notice that the white threads are also thinner and finer on the fake compared with the original.
Both ribbons are the full 30mm size.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this and if you agree that the ribbon the left is a modern fake and not a rare original variant
Tom
