I pulled mine out. It is a 3 piece model marked 30. It is not a match. I looked at some old threads and there was one marked 4 on the ring and looking at your picture and the photos of the other one I say they match. The 4 is sideways and I can see it in your photo.

OK, now I think I have tricked myself . Is this the same one that was one the E-stand from John F. ? If so, it was his threads I was talking about so I just made a big circle. I still see the 4 but that could just be the power of suggestion!

@ Raymond I would agree that your example is a perfect match to mine with the distinctive eagle looking upwards. The RZM code on your Box M1/170 is the code of BH Mayer but I don't think the stamp in the ring reeds 26 or L/18

In the meantime Hansi send me some pics of his example that also matches mine and the mm could well be 30 for Hauptmünzamt Wien. I ask Hansi for permission to post the pics and put them in the thread as soon as I hear back from him.

@Beery, could you post pics of your medal marked 30. You seem to be quite sure that it isn't a match so it would be interesting to compare it to Hansi's example. On Hansi's medal the maker mark isn't sharp either but it's clear enough to establish beyond a doubt that it is a two digit mm ending with a "0". I also don't think that it is maker mark 4. The S&L "4" in a box is always very small not to be compared with the big box on this medal.

And yes it is the medal that was offered on the e-stand by John.

Bringing this one back to the top because I still dont have a definitive answer in relation to the maker.

Isn't there anybody who has this award in his collection with a clear maker mark?

I can not get a good picture of my medal at this time. My camera is not good enough and my scanner can not do items that are not flat. Sorry for let down - this is why I typically stay out of these discussions.
Are both of these pieces heavy, 3 piece construction? Mine is. My lettering on the reverse is also thinner.
