    Four-Place Ribbon Bar

    Hi guys,

I got this little four-placer at a gun show today. I don't buy ribbon bars too often, but I thought the long service combination was interesting. I think it is probably a Heer 4-Year Long Service in combination with a Police 8-Year Long Service.

    Best regards,
    Tom

Very nice clean ribbon bar Tom. I like it a lot. It reminds me of a 5-place bar I have here- very similar combination.

Another possibility could be RAD 4 Year Decoration.

      Best regards
      Pierce

        Hi Tom,

        I like it!

Maybe this could be a start to a "Post interesting/Favorite 4 place Ribbon Bars" thread?

        Best,

        Jeff

It could be for any of the 'Kornblumenblauen Bande' Long Service awards; Polizei, Rad, Zoll or even SS, as the Auflagen for these and many others were forbidden after 1940/41 (I'm not sure if the Treuedienst award would fit with the Miltary service).

Some fantastic bars there Ron. I believe all of those blue ribbons most likely represent an Imperial Long Service Decoration.

                    Hi Ron,

I agree with Pierce. Some very nice ribbon bars, indeed. Thanks for posting them.

                    Best regards,

                      Hi Pierce,

I think that is almost certainly the case with the last three ribbon bars posted by Ron. I would agree that the plain blue ribbons placed before the Third Reich civil long service decorations would be an Imperial Prussian military long service decoration.

But on the first two ribbon bars posted by Ron, I don't think it is necessarily the case. The fact that the plain blue ribbons are placed after a Third Reich civil long service decoration would lead me to believe they more likely represent another Third Reich civil long service decoration. A military long service decoration should take precedence over a civil long service decoration.

                      Best regards,
                      Tom

On the upper bar in post #6, what's the lighter blue ribbon with crown & swords? (next to the KVKII)

                            Hi Scott,

I believe that ribbon is for the Württemberg Friedrich Order.

                            Kind regards

                              Hi Scott,

I'm thinking it has to be the Württemberg Friedrich Order- Knight's Cross 2nd or 1st class, as Pierce says, although I don't know why the crown device is on the ribbon. Perhaps it is there to designate the Knight's 1st class, or maybe it indicates a two-time awarding of the Knight's 2nd class?

                              Best regards,
                              Tom
