SS long service medals 4 and 8 years

I got these recently, like them much.

Would you comment about them, please? The 4 year looks well worn, had much patina / dirt on it, the 8 year looks very well preserved to me.

Original Type I SS-DA 4. & Type II SS-DA 3.
The 4 year looks like someone has deliberately polished the raised highlights in order to increase the visual contrast.
