Opinions on Mine Service medal - für Verdienste im Grubenwehrwesen

Gents, this was given to me by a friend many years ago and I was wondering if you might have a look and give me your opinions on its originality. There is no blue ribbon and the ring on top looks to have been soldered possibly to fix.

There is no blue ribbon

The ribbon should be black, white and yellow

Ian is correct about the ribbon. The ribbons should be yellow black and white (image at left). Occasionally, though, a Mine rescue medal might be found with a blue ribbon as seen on this sample/souvenier board from the Wilhelm Deumer factory (image at right). But this is because these boards were put together with factory leftovers. In some cases, they no longer had the proper ribbon so they used whatever leftover remnants they had.
