West wall medal... question or doubt

Hello

West wall medal, was instituted on August 1939.... The awarding of this medal stopped on January 1941.....

In 1944, a second production was conducted to reward the workers and military personnel....

The first production, was made in tombak, always? The second production.... always in bronzed zinc?

In my medal bars collection, I have some pieces with a tombak west Wall medal.... this medal bars, are a early pieces.... but I have this other medalbar, with a west wall medal made in bronzed (almost faded) zinc.....







Is this medal bar a piece from 1944?

In my opinion yes, it's certainly the later manufacture medal. Here are 2 of mine side by side ...

PS: And I agree that the zinc Westwall is a late war issue.

Just because the other bars have early west walls on them it dosent mean they are pre -44. All the bars can be 1944-1945 issues. Its not like they throw the old ones away when the new production started.

Quite right, and given the number of mint, unissued West Wall Medals that turn up they weren't short of stock either.
