That would give me cause for concern ... see what the others say.

          Cheers, Ian.

            I would not buy this.

Again, looks like a post war Souval.

Originals come in magnetic or non magnetic versions.

I have some that are in Kriegsmetall in my collection.

I definitely do not like that eagle device.

                The ribbon looks good though.

I am inclined to believe the 18-Year Long Service Cross is a good one if the base metal is tombak-bronze. If it is a lightweight white metal, then I would agree that it is a postwar Souval.

                Best regards,
                Tom

The device looks good to me.
Some time ago we made a discussion about the devices with die flaws. Me too had some with them.

This one for exampe is from a medal bar (directly from the family of the soldier and with photographic evidence). It is matching with the one posted from Caidos.

I tend to believe tho whole medal could be a good one.

Hiya Wayne, my Souval has an off-centre stamping which this one doesn't have. Also mine has a pit on the swastika at the 7 o'clock position and another on the pebbled background (see here)

Personally I would (and indeed did) wait for one of the textbook styles of eagle ... I don't like this type.

                    Cheers, Ian.

                      The cross weighs 14,77g
                      The material seems plated tombak-bronze

                        Hi Antonio,

Thanks for the info. That is good to know. For ease of viewing, I put the two eagle devices side by side for comparison. You are right! Both eagles are the exact same type. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. So we have an original ribbon and an original eagle device as well. Like you, I suspect the cross is good also.

                        Best regards,
                        Tom
