Is this ribbon bar real? It seems to have the snipped brass retainer look. What are other's thoughts?

I agree. Moreover: An 8-place all TR ribbon bar?? KVK with swords AND KV Medal (which should BTW be behind the east medal)? Not completely impossible, I think, but highly improbable.

The reverse of this one doesn't really give me that much of a warm and fuzzy feeling.

The War Merit Medal was instituted in the summer of 1940, and strictly a civilian award. Given that there's nothing WWI on here to suggest reactivation, how did this 1940 civilian earn a long service ribbon that wouldn't have been awarded after 1940?
